t comes as no surprise that well-funded lobbying efforts have paid off handsomely for corporations. State and federal legislators have carved out loopholes and made other reductions in corporate taxes that have resulted in a sharp drop in the percent of state revenues coming from corporations. There are so many bad corporate tax policies in the states now, where does an progressive organizer who wants to right these wrongs begin?

This report by the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities essentially disproves the notion that if state taxes are increased, especially on wealthier individuals, families will flee the state for another with lower taxes. It explains that the rate of such migration is so small that increasing state taxes will, with little doubt, increase revenue.
