PeaceGAMES - A Training of Trainers Workshop
Description: This training is for educators, organizers, activists, youth leaders,
and others engaged in social and economic justice work who want to
deepen their understanding and expand their capacity to lead
educational activities with their constituents on these issues. Women and people of color especially encouraged to participate.
PeaceGAMES, a popular education curriculum designed by the Women of Color Resource Center in Oakland, CA, focuses on the intersections of war, militarism, gender, race, and class. This PeaceGAMES training of trainers (TOT) will include activities and materials from United for a Fair Economy's War & the Economy workshop.
Together we will:
- participate in PeaceGAMES & War & the Economy popular education exercises;
- learn how to effectively facilitate conversations on issues of militarism and peace;
- examine connections between militarism and inequality, and how peace, gender, race, and economic justice issues overlap;
- explore leadership & community building strategies among women of color, LBGTQ populations, working-class people, and immigrant communities;
- discuss personal and collective actions to help build a movement to construct a more just economy and reduce our reliance on militarism.
