UFE and the Solidarity Economy Movement

From March 19 – 22, 2009 close to 400 people found their way to University of Massachusetts at Amherst for the first national gathering of the US Solidarity Economy Network (SEN), a group formed out of the Solidarity Economy Caucus meetings of the U.S. Social Forum held in Atlanta in June 2007.  UFE was present at the US Social Forum and was represented at the SEN forum by six staff members. Training of Trainers Institutes

UFE is one of the few national organizations that trains and supports a network of volunteer economics educators. We now have over 180 active volunteer trainers nationwide. These trained workshop leaders conduct programs on the changing economy across the country. UFE holds Training of Trainers Institutes several times a year.

Volunteer Opportunities

UFE welcomes volunteers to help us with our economic justice work. Volunteer opportunities are most often available at our downtown Boston headquarters. Occasionally, we need volunteers to help at events across the country, ranging from Washington, D.C. to Washington state.

Typical volunteer tasks at UFE range from stuffing envelopes and helping with mailings, to database entry, staffing events, short research jobs, graphic design tasks, and web work.
